Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Groups
We all experience stressful situations, feelings, and thoughts now and then. However, stress can spiral out of control, and some find themselves suffering with chronic anxiety or depression symptoms. Our own mind can become a very unpleasant place: dishing up distressing thoughts, conjuring unpleasant emotions, and triggering unhelpful responses to our stressors.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to target brain habits that contribute to anxiety or depression symptoms. Many research studies demonstrate the effectiveness of MBCT in teaching participants skills to prevent downward mood spirals. MBCT is taught and practiced in a supportive group format with assigned home-study between sessions, to reinforce skills.
Groups meet for 8 sessions, online, for 2 hours per session, facilitated by Deborah Vail, MA, LPC, NCC. Deborah has received hundreds of hours of training in MBCT, mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and she is a certified meditation instructor. Groups cost $300 per participant (workbook included).
